I am just deciding what kind of birds I want and have been reading up on the various breeds to decide. Have been lurking for awhile but decided now is the time to join up. I am hoping to find some rare and heritage breeds to start my first from scratch flock. I have had chickens before but they were mostly ones that other people gave me. I will be starting this on a shoestring budget since my SO and I are on a fixed income but hopefully we will manage to do well with the birds. I have been extremely interested in the chicken sex linking genetics and may try breeding my own at some point.
