The big rooster is Chester. He was a rescue who I picked up in New Hampshire. He is missing several toes and was just a mess when I got him. My son is 3 in that picture of him holding Chester. Chester is 9 pounds. I know this because I mailed him from NH to WA when we moved. He got his own box.
The little guy is Baby Sarge. He and Chester do have their spats, but not very often.
I am having a hard time with Chester right now because he was attacked by something and has a severally broken leg. 2 other chickens were killed, and 2 more were also injured, but not that bad. I have allowed him to hop around now for 3 weeks like that. I just can't stand it any more though. Tomorrow may be his last day. I have not decided yet. It was going to be for sure, but I let him out for the day today and he laid down most of the time. So I went out to see where he was and bring him in for the night and he is on top of the hay. About 9 feet up! So, he might make it, I don't know. I just love Chester.
