We started with 1 duck that my children didn't want (Sara Jane). She was lonely so we added 4 more Ancona ducklings - When they grew up, 2 were female and 2 were males. After 4 years we had about 90 ducks - even though we were collecting the eggs for food. I found someone to nurture most of our ducks this summer. They enjoy ducks and wanted to add to their flock and I needed to subtract - so they took 62 ducks, leaving me with 28. I stopped by to introduce myself today and see if I could find an answer. I know the essential oils to prevent mice repel mice, but I was not sure which essential oils I can put in the duck pen that the ducks enjoy but the mice don't. The following have been suggested to repel mice. Will any of the following be enjoyable to ducks?
Peppermint Oil
Tea Tree Oil
Lemon Oil
Lavender Oil
Eucalyptus Oil
Clove Oil
Cinnamon Oil
Cedarwood Oil
Bergamot Oil
Balsam Fir Oil
Citronella Oil
Rosemary Oil

90 ducks! Wow! Hi, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I had written an article about Mice Deterents and there's info in there about what's used. The only thing I know to avoid is Tea Tree Oil because it can be toxic to parrots (I have two). Cedarwood is another I'd stay away from.

If I can't trust it for my parrots, I wouldn't trust it for my chickens.

We're glad you're here!

Good advice! Thank you!
