X2 on what @DobieLover just said, rats among other things can shimmy right through chicken wire, it doesn't matter how high off the ground the coop is. Hardware cloth only, no chicken wire.

Definitely something small enough to fit through the holes of the fencing. Rat or weasel family got in.

You want something like this to cover your sides, it can be attached with the welded wire already on it:

YARDGARD 1/2 in. Mesh 10 ft. x 24 in. Hardware Cloth, 19 Gauge https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/gardenzone-hardware-cloth-10-ft-x-24-in

1/2 inch should be small enough to keep most anything out. Just make sure it is secured well to the sides so nothing can lift it up and squeeze in.
