Well, I have wanted to have chickens for the longest time & we are finally going to get some. We are getting our pullets at Rural King, AFTER we get our coop built (been looking at lots of plans.) We like the Plymouth Rocks, RIRs & Leghorns and we are thinking about having 8 - 12 hens. This is an awesome website and I am learning a lot already! We have a small farm with 4 horses, 2 dogs (kenneled) and 4 cats.
QUESTION: For the deep litter method, can pine pellets be used? I haven't seen any info on this medium. Would chickens eat pine pellets? Just wondering because we use both pellets & shavings for the horses, and the pellets provide extra absorbency.
Thanks for any input & we are glad to join your community!
Sincerely,
Brad & Missy & Ally
