Hi Y'all. It's really great to be here...finally! :)

Really enjoyed your introduction - I bet your flock would love to get to the blueberries. You had a great dad. Mine would have said 'NO CHICKENS, NO PETS, NO FUN Of ANY KIND." I managed to survive anyway.

I'm originally a Cannuck but I've was up, down and now all around.

Moved from Toronto in 1971 when I was 15 to South Texas. That's where the y'all comes from. Impressionable years.

Graduated from UT at Austin in 1980.
Got washed out by Hurricane Allen and then left for adventure on the west coast, California.

Met my hubby there, got hitched, raised two kids, then moved across the country again to Florida in 2004. Arrived the day before a Charlie and run of subsequent hurricanes hit. (we have a thing)

We were a little north of the Clearwater area for the last ten years in a waterfront community and then discovered the rural beauty of North Florida a couple years ago when we bought a blueberry farm for a weekend retreat but have since purchased a permanent place with a house and a shop on ten acres.

Thanks for asking and the warm welcome.

Love to hear more about your life too.
You really have had quite a variety of living experiences, me, just in Macon, Ga most of my life. The blue berry farm sounds quite interesting….chickens and blueberries are a great match. The birds love the blue berries and the bushes can tolerate fresh, hot chicken manure. I don't have any blue berries but keep thinking about planting some.

North FL is quite different than the rest of the state and the people there sound more like GA or AL in their accents. And your weather is a lot like what we have in my area.

So glad you joined. Again, welcome.

Dear Sunflour,

Thanks for your response. Yes I have to agree, being so close to the border the people and the weather is very similar in southern GA, AL to northern FL.
A lot of people have no idea. It was a brisk 45 degrees this morning but will warm up into the high seventies to low eighties today. My fav time of the year because it's possible to get things done after the stinking hot summer. Next time you are headed in this direction let me know if you'd like to stop by.

We sold the blueberry farm to our next door neighbor when we bought this place this summer. We didn't need to have both and as beautiful as the blueberry farm was/is it was just far too much work for only two people to maintain 2000 plus plants on 10 acres as well.
We have more than enough to do just maintaining this one 10 acre parcel. Something always needs doing! I will probably plant some blueberries here this winter for personal use because we like them but I am thinking more in the line of 12-15 plants. The birdies can have a few too. :p

This is probably going to be our last move as moving after awhile just kind of gets old, like us. Plus this is a really gorgeous place, a lifetime dream come true after so many years of other work, so I am just so very happy to have finally got here!

Take care my new friend.

Hope to chat with you more in the near future! :)
