been lurking here for awhile, learning a lot. had chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigs, etc 20 years ago, now retired (maybe!) and back at it with currently 5 geese (mostly Chinese), 4 beautiful lavender muscovies, 7 Ameracauna, 2 WCBlue Polish, 2 banty Wyandotte, 2 Silkies, 4 BCMarans (incl 1-2 roosters) and just got 3 7-wk old Salmon Favs. Lost all my Indian Runners (Holderread lines) to a nasty raccoon last week
Got our first eggs this week from Ameracaunas (the white ones are our LAST store-bought eggs!):
I'm going to play around with different breeds for awhile but I'll probably work with the lav scobies for awhile. After I'm done dabbling I'm especially interested in Wheaten Marans and Ameracaunas; S Favs, BLR Wyans (splash variety), and White Silkies. I'll probably change my mind a few times by then.
My main hobby is running ultramarathons (31 to 100 miles).
Married 35yrs, 3 fantastic grown daughters, 2 cats; living in Redding, CA (far north).
