Hi everyone!

After wanting chickens forEVER (about 13 years anyway) but moving too frequently and often living places where it wouldn't be feasible, we're FINALLY moving to the country end of this month! Some friends of mine are chicken-sitting for me and as soon as we move and get a coop put up I've got my first feather-babies coming home! I've got 5 rhode island red banties (one of whom is that lovely little lady in my profile pic

) 3 black orpingtons (including a very handsome roo), 1 splash orpington, and another friend is giving me a couple of silkies . I can't wait to have them all home and I'm looking forward to being here

Hi Amanda, welcome to BYC!

You have waited a long time to finally get some birds, congratulations on your new home and your new flock! I'm a RIR fan myself (we have/had the full-size ones) and they are great chickens, lots of attitude and good egg layers.

It's nice to have you here, make yourself at home!

Welcome to BYC I'm new also and this group has been a huge help. Best thing I've done is join well other than getting my chicks of course lol
