I'm new to incubating chicks. My first batch I got 3 chicks out of 10. My second only 1 out of 12.

Maybe I'll have better luck with this next one.

We have a homemade incubator made from a old cooler with a light and holes on the side for air. I candled the eggs between day 7-10. Checked them again maybe day 14. And again right before lockdown. Oh I turn them 3-4 times a day, except at night. I tried keeping temperature around 37-39 and humidity at 50. The temperature did go up and down a bit but no more than 3-4 degrees.

Welcome!

Best wishes for this next hatch.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
