Hi!
I’m all new to chickens. Going to finish building the coop today, tomorrow we’re getting the chickens (6) through an animal rescue organization. No idea what breed it is, they’re probably white. I’d heard of backyard chickens before through a friend, but now reading Raising Chickens for Dummies and getting chickens for REAL, I’ve been motivated to join.
I’m hoping to learn a great deal of all of yours wisdom, and over time become a contributing member and able to give back.

Hello! Chickens are so wonderful and even though I'm fairly new to them as well, they have absolutely changed and enriched my life. What kind of rescue are you getting them from? I mean is it specific, like a battery hen rescue? White chickens is very vague, they are possibly ex battery leghorn hens. If possible, ask the rescue what breed of chicken they are and anything they may know about their history. It will be helpful to know this if any issues pop up and just breed specific behavior in general. Of course, any questions you may have will probably be answered quicky here!
