Hi

Imagine the poor birds that used to be in the coop were very much neglected. Hope he didn't leave other things behind that will affect your new birds.

You really have your work cut out for you. Pardon me for saying you must be " a crazy chicken person," BYC has over 300,000 members around the globe that are also chicken addicted. So glad you joined the BYC flock.

We bought this place in December and it has a huge coop that needs to be cleaned. I don't think the guy that built it ever cleaned it or he had way too many birds in it. It is nearly 20x30 with both ends enclosed and the middle covered in chicken wire so they have room to forage. There are 13 wooden nesting boxes that have no drainage holes in them that are full of poop and there is probably 6 inches of chicken manure on the ground. I pressure washed most of it and got the spiders out today, the next week or two we will be digging out a lot of the manure, and then I will fix any weak spots and it should be finished before the babies are ready to move outside.
That is a good sized coop!

Chicken math usually sets in and many of us wind up with a lot of chickens
