(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am still relatively new to chickens! We got our first batch in April 2018!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently own 19 chickens, but my goal is to get to 25 and have all the breeds I want.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Oh boy... I love having variety so nearly EVERY one of my chickens is different. We currently have; 1 golden laced wyandotte, 1 buff orpington (my personal fav so far), 1 speckled sussex, 1 buff laced polish, 1 buff brahma, 1 rhode island red, 1 black australorp, 3 easter eggers, 1 serema, 5 silkies, 1 blue plymouth rock, 1 porcelain d'uncle, AND FINALLY 1 silkie/cochin mix.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I absolutely love to collect eggs every day... makes me beyond happy.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am in 4h for my second year!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are adding two goats to our family soon! We currently have 2 cats, 1 dog, and of course our chickens. (I'm 17)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Every time I have a chicken question and I google it, BYC comes up! I love the support shown and I would like to be a part of it!
