Hello Everyone.
My name is Ama and I live in Southwest Florida in rural community.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not entirely new to chickens. We raised chickens when I was growing up at different times, primarily meat chickens to fill the freezer. We just got our newest chicks today! I am so excited.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 chicks. 2 Golden Sex Links; 2 Barred Rocks; 1 Americauana & 1 Wyandotte (spelling?)
(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am excited to have the extra eggs as well as the pest control. They are cool little pets as well.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hobbies... I teach - 5th grade. I love to read, and do outdoor stuff like swimming, hiking and camping, as well as fishing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a 16 year old daughter. We also have 2 indoor cats and 2 neighborhood cats who call our house theirs. I am a 5th grade teacher in one of the local elementary schools.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have known about BYC for a while now. I read articles and postings but didn't register at the time. I am now living in a different place and would like to be able to ask questions and learn more.
