I'm Heather... so far, I don't have any chickens but in a year I will have... maybe 6 or 7? I joined this group to learn as much as I could before I got started. I'm very excited and motivated... I even have some names picked out. Hope they fit the personalities! I love gardening and will have a large veggie garden where I know they will have a blast exploring and helping me keep the bug population down. Thanks for letting me join! Heather

A good starter breed is Barred rock. They’re pretty, docile and probably the easiest to gender at young age. I hope you love your birds like we do!
