so my duck who is around one month old now has gotten quite scared of everyone around him, including me. He doesn’t let me carry him anymore like he used to and always tries running away from me. I don’t know what I should do, he’s always hiding and I’m scared he’ll stop eating.

just continue to be around him. Maybe he doesn’t like to be held but just around you. My ducks were soooo lovey and awesome as ducklings and now they like to be around us but on their terms.i try not to force love but to just hangout and be the treat master!

How old is your duck? Is your end goal for him to be an indoor ducks?

Most ducks go through a stage where everythings scary and over exciting, The more you chase the more scared he will be, if picking up is nessicary talk calmly and move slowly and be gentile
When a duckling starts growing feathers the pins are irritating and i think it adds to the mood swings

@Kkrista123 has an indoor duck she might be able to discuss too

How your duck is acting is pretty normal. My ducks went through a stage when they became more afraid of people all of the sudden. He probably doesn't love being picked up right now. Work on getting him to love being around people first. I hand fed treats and spent time around them just talking to them but not invading their space. Lure him to approach you with a treat if possible instead of chasing him, and try not to pick him up if he's not in the mood. Eventually he'll become sociable again, it just takes time and patience!

What type of treats should I give him? Also thank you for the reply!
