Just saying hello! I've been browsing the forums for a while, frequently the last few days, and have gathered a ton of information and tips from the community. Thank you guys!
I set up my first brooder today and I'm currently researching home made incubators.
I've raised meat kings for the last 3 years, and 2 years ago I raised 15 egg layers from chicks, only 7 ended up being roosters. We hulled the flock and ended up with 7 hens and 1 rooster, barn yard mix, with one green egg layer. Loved them, lost some, rooster turned nasty...lost him...then lost some more! I saved my last 3 girls from a terrible fate by rehoming them and they have been doing great since. I've learned a lot in my experience and I'm excited to start again this season. Can't wait to get my incubator going so I can purchase some fertile eggs, or perhaps just start with day old chicks.
Thanks for reading!
