Welcome to the flock! From another in CT!!
Best advice is to get on here and peruse the subjects your interested in, and learn. I found the easiest way to learn how to sex chickens, for instance, was to just be on the gender forum and read until I started realizing I was figuring it out. There's lots of good people on here with lots of good advice, so don't hesitate to ask questions! And never feel stupid about asking a question.... we all started somewhere and had the same questions.
