Hi! Nice to meet you all! :) I’ve been viewing backyard chickens for a while and have decided it’s time to get an account. I’m really excited to join this community!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first baby chicks about a week ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have nine chicks and am getting eight more in a week

(3) What breeds do you have?
my nine current chicks are Easter Eggers and the next eight will be production red.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I’m new to chickens so I don’t know that much yet but so far the anticipation of what they will look like and what eggs they will lay is My favourite part. Also seeing how fast they grow and just watching them get bigger every day.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to bake, play piano, and crochet.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a dairy cow named “Sweatpea” and a llama, as well as two cats and a bunny. I’m in my third year of my undergrad to hopefully become a veterinarian someday

Very nice introduction. You are good at three things I wish I had talents to do. Baking, I understand, the other two totally elude me (although I have tons of books on crochet and totes full of yarn. I'm going to learn how every single winter).

Sounds like a great menagerie for a future vet. Welcome to BYC! It's good to have you here.

Hi and welcome to the flock!

Chickens are addictive...you might be adding 8 more next Spring! Hopefully browsing the threads will help you glean some useful information for raising your own flock and helping future flocks when you're a certified vet :)

Looking forward to seeing pics of your gals and other farm cuties!
