my name is Elsabe and i got 1 baby chick to raise. i dont know if im doing it right but the mother left her behind. so im raising her. her name is tjirp tjirp and she is 17 days old. I dont know baby chicks. Im worried because she realy sleeps al lot. i dont know when she is cold or to hot. she doesnt eat by her self and so i have to feed her. she sleeps under a lot of blankets and i am realy worried about her. in the morning when i wake her up i feed her and about 10 min later she is back to sleep. during the day i wake her up and i realy strugle to keep her a wake. not long after that she is back to sleep. if she is a wake is not for long then back to sleep. is that normal please help

No, that isn't normal.

She needs a heating pad or heat lamp to warm up under.

I would feed her a bit of warm to the touch sugar water, hope that gives her enough energy to then eat more chick feed.

My chicks didn't sleep that much, you'll need a heat lamp. She should probably be with other chickens to do better. My four always huddled together. I was told 3 was the minimum I should have and so I had 4 just on case something happened to one. Purina has a great guide to raising chickens.
