My name is Marion. I have had chickens for many years, probably around 10 years. I like a variety. One of my original chickens when I first built my coop is still alive, her name is Blackie and she is a black Orpington. I have really enjoyed my chickens and have been trying out different varieties when one of my hens dies. I hatched my first eggs last spring but out of 14, only 6 hatched and 4 of them were roosters so I'm not so sure I want to do that again. I get pretty attached to my chickens and it was difficult to put my roosters down. 2 of them I was able to give away. They were beautiful birds but not nice to my hens. I'm on this site to get different points of views about raising chickens.
