Hello! I am Emma! I got chickens the August of 2021. I have 12 chickens right now. 2 Plymouth Rocks, 3 Astralrops (2 blue & 1 black), 2 Easter Eggers, 1 Rhode Island Red, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 White Leghorns. (I had to go look at my records to find all that info lol. 🤣) The reason I have chickens is because they are so fun and adorable and having the reward of eggs makes it even better. I do not Raise chickens for meat, only eggs. I am always open on how to get them to lay more eggs since we're kind of in a low spot right now. (We got none yesterday and their all old enough to lay ☹). I LOVE VOLLEYBALL ! šŸ (That is my only other hobby) I have 2 goats I'm about to breed and I'm super excited to have little kids running around. This will be the first time we have a live birth on the farm so I'm a little nervous. I am still a student and I'm homeschooled. I found BYC by looking at the internet. I couldn't find the answers I was looking for so I decided to join and ask!

Welcome to BYC, Emma. Your birds are most likely molting. Also this time of year the days are shorter so they do not lay as often if at all. You can try upping their protein. Ideally their regular feed should have 18 to 20% protein. You can use a higher protein feed or treat them to some sardines once a week.
