Hi! I’m new to chickens! I got 4 silkies on Mother’s Day from a breeder who I later learned was not reputable in a good way!! Two of my babies passed since then, leaving me with two, one of which has been a constant battle of health issues in relation to her feet. I recently got two more little ones this weekend and am quarantining them before introducing them to my other girls! They’re from a breeder my vet highly recommended so I’m hoping for a better journey with less heartbreak this time around.

Pictured are my two newbies (no names yet! And my three OGs. I lost my blue (Sloan) to Mareks about a month ago. Ivy (Splash) and Poppy (white) are the only two remaining from my original flock. I had a black one (Olive) too that I lost 10 days into owning her. It’s been a journey with lots of ups and downs so far!

I only have silkies as I have a small backyard setup. The eggs are just a bonus (only one is laying anyway). My kids love our silkies too!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I replied on your other post about the sex of the partridge. I didn't realize though you had such a rough start, but these you now have sure are beautiful!

If you care to read up on Marek's, BYC has several members who have it or had it and a couple wrote very enlightening and informative articles about how they dealt with it and what they learned along the way.
