Chicken Palace
Hi everyone!

Last year we considered getting chickens but never got round to it. But then, last night, fate prompted us with a special present... of two gorgeous white Bantams!
A cock and a hen.
The woman next door to us got them free off someone at work, but her husband hates them for some reason, so they have to get rid of them,
and I convinced my parents to let us have them!

They are currently housed by our neighbours in a shed until my dad makes a run and coop for them, estimated time = 2/3 weeks.
We are going to let the cock and hen be together until she lays her first batch, then separate them. Then the eggs will hopefully hatch and we will have
little chickies!

As far as keeping the hen and rooster together until she lays her first eggs so that you can hatch chicks goes, this possibly won't work. If your little hen isn't broody, she won't sit on the eggs. There really isn't a surefire way to make her do it either. Your best bet would be to buy an incubator and collect her eggs to hatch that way. Just FYI. I'd hate for you to have your heart set on that scenario and it not happen, because more than likely it won't.
