I am looking to start raising some egg layers this coming spring. I have my coop all picked out and think I am going with Rhode Island reds. Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Rhode Island Red are great egg layers!!! If you start them now they should all be ready by spring that is if you are starting out with chicks.

& from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Great choice! Check out the Learning Center at the top - lots of great information about chickens in there. The only tip I can think of right now, is always build your coop bigger than you think you'll need it to be lol. Good luck

Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC. RIR are great. There are so many breeds to pick from My sexlink, white leg horns & black copper marans are great layers. There are a few areas you can look at on this site to learn about Breeds/eggs.
