I am looking to start raising some egg layers this coming spring. I have my coop all picked out and think I am going with Rhode Island reds. Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

:frow & :welcome from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Great choice! Check out the Learning Center at the top - lots of great information about chickens in there. The only tip I can think of right now, is always build your coop bigger than you think you'll need it to be lol. Good luck :thumbsup

to BYC! from Wisconsin. It is good you joined early you can get all sorts of good ideas about your chickens before you actually get them. At the top of the page there is a Breeds section where you can learn all about the different breeds and qualities.

! Happy you joined us! Since you're not getting your birds until spring you have plenty of time to get up to speed by browsing through and learning on BYC. Come spring you'll be a poultry expert. Best of luck to you!!

Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC. RIR are great. There are so many breeds to pick from :) My sexlink, white leg horns & black copper marans are great layers. There are a few areas you can look at on this site to learn about Breeds/eggs.
