Hi I am Terri and I am a stay at home mom to 4 cute kiddos. I also homeschool. My husband and I moved in with his grandmother a year ago (she had a stroke) and we have been working on fixing up the place. We started off with chickens. So far we have 11 hens and 2 roosters. We are shocked that the 2 roosters actually get along pretty well. We are planning on getting some more chickens this year. We also have 12 bunnies, a cat and a dog. We live on about 7 acres and it was a farm in the past. They had cows, a horse and not sure what else.

I am looking into making this a hobby farm. I already have some ideas but not a 100% sure how to get started. I have sold some eggs and I have more people interested in buying them. I would love to get some ducks as well but I have been reading that some people say they don't do well with chickens while others say they do.

Any tips or advice is welcome. :)

That sounds like a very nice farm! In my experience, my ducks did not get along well with my chickens at all. The drake was always trying to mate with my hens, and all 3 ducks found the feathers of my chickens to be a very tasty treat. But I have also heard of some chickens and ducks who get along just fine, so I guess it varies.

Thanks so much for the welcome :) Also thanks for the link. I am going to try and convince the hubby to let us get ducks. He hasn't caved yet. I am going to probably just start with 2.
