Good afternoon all,
I have been utilizing this website for several months now, gathering chicken knowledge and various other great building ideas. I thought I should finally join and introduce myself.
I bought a nice little house in the country about 10 years ago. I mentioned to my wife several years ago that I would love to have chickens. She talked me out of it at the time. I brought it up every now and again whenever we saw chicks in the local Farm King or Tractor Supply. Anyway, this year I decided to jump into it without her buy in. I picked up six leghorn chicks. I thought I would start with 6 of them just to see what I was in for. In hind sight, I probably should have stuck with 2 of several types, but I was a sucker for a pretty chick
My wife fell head over heels in love. She wanted to get some more. We went to a different farm store and started looking. The Big R that was recommended to me by a friend had 22 chicks to choose from. I told the clerk that we would like 2 more of each type. My wife was having none of that. According to her, they had already started a family and she didn't want to break it up. "What if we choose to take a couple and the others have a bad life". It was admittedly pretty cute. She is a die hard animal lover.
So now we have 28 chickens. But I am a proud papa.

and Welcome To BYC! What cute chicks, looks like you got a nice assortment of breeds. Might as well build an even bigger coop since you will probably get even more!
