I thought I would swing by and tell everyone a little bit about myself. My name is Sam. I just got into chickens this year, took a while to convince my other half to let me have them. Decided to start my flock with 6 Easter Eggers. I absolutely love them. I have one who has scissor beak and am hoping she will make it. Turns out she is the friendliest out of the bunch. I am hoping to get a few more babies to add to my flock next year. I already told my dear husband that I'm going to be a crazy chicken lady. If anyone wants to know anymore about me feel free to ask!

I saw that link. Plan on reading it in a bit here. So far it seems like she is eating okay and everything, which I am really grateful for. It's going to be hard for me if we lose her, I think it might be even harder for my daughter who has grown attachments to her also.
 
Generally crossbeaks find it easier to eat if you mound the food up - there's a better chance of some finding it's way into their mouths. A lot of people have cross beaks and unless they are horribly severe the chicken can do well and adapt. Now and then they may need to have the beak filed down so the fit is better.
 
drumstick diva thank you for that little bit of advice. Unfortunately I think hers is really severe. The bottom and the top seem like they don't line up at all. She seemed to eat a wet mash fine last night from what my husband said. I'm going to see if she puts weight on in the next couple of days and if she doesn't then I'm going to do the right thing and put her down. But thank you for the little tid bit of advice. I will try that also before I make any decisions.
