We first bought a Silkie hen and cock, young Plymouth Rock cock, 2 RIR hens. Then a week later bought hens -a golden-laced Wyandotte, & black Australorp. Yesterday brought home an Americana hen and Buff Orpington, along with ten keets. Right now we are only getting two eggs a day at most. The two R I R hens are just six mths old and haven't started laying yet. The Silkie hen lays almost every day but they're small, but cute lol. The black Australorp is the only other one laying, & a nice large, brown egg. They are a joy to watch! My Chinese. Crested Powderpuff,:) Chuckie likes them too and likes to get in the pen with them. :)
 
I'm not surprised your black australorp is the hen laying eggs. I've had black australorps for years & they have consistently been the best layers among my standard breeds. In addition, they are extremely hardy, calm, & gentle birds. Good luck in getting those eggs.
 
silkies are not known as great layers but, at least she has the right spirit. Generally silkies make great broodies which means they sit on the eggs and hatch them. They go broody at their own desire. But, if you have fertile eggs available from any hen or other source you can slip them under a broody silkie and she will raise them as her own.

Many people keep silkies for just that reason - then they do not have to use a incubator.
They are also a big favorite with kids, and do well as house chickens.
