"Yep," she sighed. "I'm ready."

"How we suppose to know it has survived for centuries? Humans don't live that long!" She scoffed.

"Neither do we, and you know because of the trees" Mark stated as if that was obvious

"I refuse to talk to you. Though you may own me I will never listen to you." She walked to the entrance of the cave and sat down behind the waterfall. In a voice almost lost in the sound of the rushing water she said, "Your monster, and I would never expect you to understand."

"I shouldn't have expected a human to understand the forest" Mark quipped back, proving how good his ears were even in human form. "As a species you cut yourself off long ago. You are numb to it, to the truth"

June followed right behind him.

Rodney finally got to the bottom and looked at June.

June walked down the last step.

Skye jumped to her feet. "I'm leaving! I know I promised, but I can't stand this! I can't stand you!" She stomped across the cave and crawled into the exit tunnel.

Mark growled and went after her to bring her back to the main cavern again

(Late afternoon, I'd say.)
"Do you want to hunt in your true form? I have practiced hunting as a human with a bow and arrow, and other weapons, if you prefer to do that." He said, wondering if it might be hard for her as a flightless bird. Though he wasn't trying to offend her.

She put her hand on his cheek, "I love you." She whispered, looking into his ebony eyes.

Carrow came back into the kitchen as she answered. " No, that part of my life is over. I haven't shifted in years. No reason to start now. So, it will only be in human form for me." She paused, as she looked him over speculative. "You however, I'd love to see your wolverine side. I have never seen one before. That, I think, would be very educational." She said seriously.

Raine smiled truly touched. "Never doubt that I love you, Astrid. For I used to watch you from afar and loved you then, just as I love you now. The loss of the forest, means nothing to me now. If it means we'll always be there together. That is how much I love you." He confessed.

Cadeon finally found his room. He opened the door and walked inside with the others. He was glad Jason had given them a safe place to sleep. He let the other two decide what sleeping arrangements they wanted. He walked over to the window and pulled the curtains open. Wow, this lifestyle was going to take some getting used to. He glanced back at Adel. He quietly wondered who and what species she was. Putting that aside for another time, he gave into his urge to get out and about. He put the hotel key into his frount pocket and started for the door. He said as he reached it, "I'll be back in a bit, remember to keep this door locked. I've got the room key. We don't want the humans coming in uninvited." He nodded to them before he left. He then opened the door and headed out into the hallway. He carefully looked around, before he started walking down the hallway. He had to learn the city, which meant getting out there.
