The room was silent as Markus thumbed through the files. The six other occupants siting at the table, knew that in his current mood, it was best not to speak until spoken too. After a time, Markus threw the last report down with contempt. He looked up to the gathered group. He turned his attention to the head of surveillance. "So, not only have the signals stopped broadcasting, but you couldn't even follow them back to their home base. Because of an encrypted program that disabled the system. But now that it's up and running again, it's showing multiple locations for each tracker." He summarized the report with annoyance. He looked to his Units cordinator "We'll just have to double our efforts, won't we? I want units sent out to each and every last know location of those trackers. Understand me? I want those shifters and I want that traitor back. Her future seeing days for the enemy is over. She has caused enough damage to Menagerie, in helping that rabble get away." He then turned to the head of genetic engineering. "When will that new batch be done training? I grow impatient with you dragging your feet." He said to the scientist, with a sneer.
Rally sighed and looked at Markus finally. "They are still slightly unpredictable in their temperaments. But still effective, none the less." He said quietly.
"Good, that's progress with that strain. Now did you isolate the genotypes that triggers the shift, in the blood sampe from that man made shifter?" Markus asked hopefully.
Rally nodded slowly. "I am replicating them as we speak. But the real magic happens when you add a drop of the unicorn's blood. It's quite exquisite to watch. Soon I'll have a vaccine to inject into gen-one. Fortunately you got just enough of her blood."
Markus glared at the scientist. He was still enraged about that one. Amar was his first priority to get back. "It was fortunate in deed." He said dryly. He then turned to look at his intelligence officer. "Is that collar still transmitting rogue?"
The intelligence officer nodded, "Yes sir, loud and clear." He said with pride.
"Go get it back and bring me who ever has it. I don't take kindly to thieves and hackers." Markus ordered. He then turned to his head of Security, "General Watson's, master chief has gone off the grid with his prized mermaid. I've received several phone calls, where he's whining like a toddler and threatening to take my Cherokee helicopter back. Take a team and track her chip. Be sure to bring them both back. General Watson has plans for Raymer." He commanded dispassionately. He then looked to Xavier, as he leaned forward to pick up a handful of files. He chucked them across the table at him. "I'm not stupid, Xavier. I know you had a hand in every one of those shifters going missing. It started with my Oilin and Vorsicht, the black unicorn. Then my blue dragon. Now you confirmed the fey magic that cost me Castiel and Andromeda. Just as the resistance has used it again, to gain entrance to my facility! I want a meeting with this fey king. You talk to him or do a summoning spell. I care not, just make it happen." He ordered with venom in his voice.
Xavier smiled smugly at Markus. "You have no power to make me do anything. You are just a stupid Mogul." He said with humor.
"Oh, is that right? Well, let me ask you this, have you seen you're beloved dragon son lately?" Markus asked quietly, while continuing to stare hard at Xavier. Then as realization set in, Markus gasped loudly and covered his mouth in fake shock, as he saw the look on Xavier's face.
"You cannot touch my son! He is spell to kill his attacker instead!" Xavier shouted at Markus in outrage.
"Yes, my men found that out the hard way. But then I found this very interesting book, that was conveniently hid in you room. Of course, I made sure you weren't in it. Because you were looking at the fey magic in Castiel's cell, at the time." Markus explained, as he unwrapped the fey king's spell book. Which had been wrapped in an oiled cloth and sat on the table the whole time. "It's spells, seem to trump yours. Don't worry though, Storm's not dead, but you did owe me a dragon. So I just took yours. Now broker that meeting with the king. Before I take something else that's yours." He said with a cold resolve, as he slowly got to his feet and picked up the spell book. He started turning to walk away. But stopped, when no one moved to get up. "This meeting is adjourned." He clarified coldly. At his words, everyone jumped to action.
