Valstrath purred softly at the loving touch of his broodmother. He trusted her completely and would do anything she asked of him, without question.
Slygotha guided Valstrath to another low bog in the jungle, settled against a hollow hill. Slipping into the water, she sank down, then swam up into the soggy cavern, dotted with phosphorescent mushrooms. It wasn't nearly as big as her beloved cavern, but it was better hidden, and would serve as a place to rest and gather strength. She knew every nook within her territory, but she never thought she would need to retreat here. It smelled nice in a stuffy, wet, earthy way. She looked expectantly at the water, hoping Valstrath might find some rest here in this modest cave.
