I have 4 hens and no roosters. A few days ago I woke up to a lot of clucking in the henhouse, sent my son out and he found 2 eggs on the floor, small bantam eggs from our Gloria.
Next day i noticed her sneaking off behind the henhouse and lo and behold she was sitting on 13 eggs! I took them in the house, did the float test and they all passed as very fresh, so we made some delicious scrambled eggs and cheese!
But poor Gloria is so sad that her nest is empty! She sat on her secret nest but did not lay another egg today.
What should I expect and is there a good way to get her to lay in the nestbox in the henhouse? I tried leaving them in longer this morning, but they complain a lot if i dont let them free range.
I expect the others will start laying soon, this could get crazy!
