High Desert Chickens!

Hello,
I am from Northern Arizona not far from the Grand Canyon. I will be coming up on 1 year with chickens. I have studied and learned all I could about chickens for 10 years before we got our first flock. Living in the high desert we also have a unique environment. We go from extreme heat to extreme cold and snow during the year. Thru this adventure this first year I can say I still have more to learn. I had questions about a broody hen that lead me to this forum site. I am really excited to get to know others and share experiences. I look forward to learning from others.

I have a mixed flock of silkies, minorca (dumbest chicken in the flock), Speckled and Americaunas.

We had a bobcat enter our property so we went from 30 chickens down to 10. They stick closer to the house now. My dogs making more of a scan around the coop has kept the bobcat at bay.

Hi, glad to have you here with us! Northern AZ is one of the prettiest places I've ever visited, but you do have challenges raising a flock. Sorry for the bobcat losses.
