High wind watch...

Better batten down those bantams!

(Try saying that 3 times fast)

55 mph winds all night last night, off and on all day, and again tonight. Thankfully, our coop isn't giong anywhere. But here is what's funny. I thought the chickens would have enough sense to stay inside the coop for fear of getting blown away, litterally. But, sure enough. Came home from work and two were out and about the yard as if they didn't even notice the wind. Silly chickens!

We had high winds all day today also. Chickens stayed by the coop most of the day. Some did range but not for long since tail feathers were toughing heads. LOL At least it did not rain at all like it was last night just wind.

Ours turned out to be not so bad. It did blow a chair off the porch, and a tarp of my hoop house (that I hadn't zipped down yet), but for the most part it was okay. One of the benefits of living in a 'holler'

Up on the high ground though, sheesh!! It was very cold and very windy!!

The wind here was incredibly nasty, but somehow we got to this point with our lights still on :hmm I suppose they could still go out, since it is still blowing out there, but nothing like yesterday.

My coop was still standing last night when I got home from work; too dark to see if it's upright now, but I hope it is! The chickies seemed to take OK to cage life, right up to Bossy's back improving a bit (I must have managed to separate her from the worst culprit). I discovered last night that they're scared of straw though. Silly chickies!

Most of the tarps were blown off my chicken shed, but otherwise all was well. I did see on the news someone's trampoline landed right side up on a neighbors roof.Made me go check my own trampoline and weigh it down.
