Chickens vs. Barn Cats - Looking for Suggestions

My 4 barn cats hang out in the poultry yard even though I've tried (and tried...) to get them to hang out and eat in the hay shed. So, I feed them in the poultry yard early in the morning before the cat food gobbling chickens are released from their coops, and again in the evening once the chickens have gone to bed and are closed in for the night. My cats don't have free access to food, only limited feedings twice daily, otherwise they slack off on their job - eating rodents .

I feed our barn cats in our front hall. The chickens go crazy looking through the storm door at all the cat food they can't get to.

Sometimes there will be 3 or 4 chickens pecking at the storm door wanting in. The barn cats ignore them. I believe I've even seen the cats laughing and making funny faces at the chickens!
Apropos of nothing at all, but the laughing cats reminded me: last night my husband made quesadillas, and they were nice and spicy. 🌶️

Our cat of Deeply Unstable Emotions and Temperament decided to lick his plate when he was done, and when the spice hit, she hissed at him! 😾 Little weirdo.

Oh no! 😂 She was probably saying, "Why didn't you tell me it was SPICY!?"😾
