(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new to chickens, we rescued a leghorn in February when she showed up stuck in our bushes and nobody claimed her. About 2 months later, when I had finally finished building the coop, we got 4 more girls.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now 5, they have names as well.
My leghorn is about 1.5 y old since she's the rescue and the rest are about 8 m old.

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have a leghorn (Kentucky), a hyline brown (Nugget), a blue Australorp (Alita), a Blackstar (Letta, la Cotoletta) and a Barred Rock (Maggi)

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I think my favorite part is definitely when I approach them and they come running towards me with they're little waddle. And they're sounds. Oh my goodness. Also when they spy me from afar and immediately prop up they're head and call for attention.
The eggs of course are a special kind of satisfaction. Currently stocked full only with our own farm fresh eggs. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, cooking, baking, watching movies, gardening, learning languages

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a psych graduate, I live with my parents and brother in our farm house. We have 2 cats (Zag and Pixie) and 1 dog (Luna) and I am in love with the country life even though I have a love for academia as well. My dream is to become a professor/scientist by day and a homesteader by night lol

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I am an anxious person so you bet I am researching every single thing about my girls so naturally I came across BYC in one of my long google searches.

Welcome. Thank you for rescuing her.
