Hillbilly Music!

Bluegrass is my favorite. Some other good ones are Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent and The Rage, Dale Ann Bradley, 3 Fox Drive, Del McCoury, The country Gentleman, Seldom Seen....
The list goes on and on.

Only hillbillies can say hillbillies, only rednecks (such as myself) can say redneck and I'm starting to notice from all our northern transplants in NC they don't like to be called yankees even though I've heard northerners say yankee.

You gotta by RedNeck Christmas...now that is hillbilly music...
I come from a long line of hillbillies...we still get the banjos and fiddles going in our living rooms sometimes

I am just LMBO at this thread of posts! I was born a yankee, but with Southern Ancestry. I've always considered myself a northern hillbilly! My 6yo has been listenin' to that there "hillbilly" music alot, and wants a fiddle now.

Thanks for the LOL's!

You guys want a real hoot, search redneck.com....this will entertain your for hours! It would make me offended if I hadn't actually seen all these things in real life!

Don't forget Doc Watson and even Ricky Scaggs, folks. I just love Ricky!

Bluegrass is the best!
Union Station and Alison Krauss :

Try Silver Dollar Citys MOUNTAIN FOLKS MUSIC FESTIVAL (In the Ozarks in Missouri) if you are ever in the neighborhood thereabouts (I played Dulcimer during this festival for several years)... in addition to bluegrass you'll get to hear real "hillbilly" like this:

Hi Offspring. I was wondering if you knew that Bluegrass has it's roots in the UK, your own backyard (relatively speaking)? MissPrissy mentioned the Irish/Scottish heritage bit earlier in this thread.

If you enjoy Bluegrass, you might check out some Irish/Scottish fiddle music as well.

In some cases there may be different instruments involved, but you can certainly see where Bluegrass comes from. Alot of the folk music from the UK could be played over here without anyone realizing it wasn't their own home-grown "hillbilly" music.

PS - I also have to add this one because Lori Watson is just sublime.
