Our Red Stars (Red Sex-Links) meet all of those requirements and are the most reliable egg layers we have had.

Thanks for all the welcomes and advice. RIR and Plymouth/Barred Rocks seem like good choices, we’re been looking at both for a while now. We hadn’t thought of Red Stars until now, but I’ve been looking into them and they seem like a good choice to. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

I recommend Plymouth Rocks! They come in so many different colors, are friendly, and are wonderful layers! Red Sex-Links are also super layers, but are a bit more of a dull color and imo not quite as friendly.

I also think Black Austerlops and Buff Opingtons make good friendly egg layers. You can check out reviews on the Review page!
