Himalayan Monal

I will be getting mine soon. I am trading a tragopan pair for them. I love my tragopans but one pair will have to do. When I last saw my future impetans they were not friendly. The male impeyan does have crooked toes but I will take a shot with him rather than no fertile eggs with a younger male. Plus he is from the Alaska bloodlines.

Usually with larger birds like Impeyans, fertility will be not good. Probably depends on how many and how bad they are crooked. If they are bad, they eventually could break down the legs of the bird.

Also they are notorious for eating their eggs,so be ready to grab their eggs if you see them trying to eat them. They lay every 3rd day,not the 2nd day like all (except ringnecks)other species. They love to dig too,so make sure the perimeter of their pen is escape proof.
In N.H.,Tony.

Very nice impeyans. The pens will be to be made escape proof since it would not be hard for them to dig out if they tried.

Hi Tony Was your birds you kept terrible diggers? How about you other guys that have kept em. My only pair wasnt that bad. Granted they dug just nowhere near the point of me thinking they might get out. Also for all. What do you all feed yours? How many people keep more than one breeder pair? I just brought this thread back up for more imput because me and others are wanting to know more. Thanks! Shawn
