Hinged Roof for Chicken Run- FINISHED!

It's done! We used 4 sections that were 4 ft long and we used the fabric fencing (link attached here https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hanes-Geo-Components-50-ft-x-36-in-Black-Dot-Silt-Fence/3295054) and hardware cloth. This will provide a shaded area when closed and allow us to get in and clean/visit with chickens!!

We are still deciding what feeder/waterer to use but these are fine temporarily.

There is a gate. It's about 4 ft tall.

I did something similar - mine are sort of run extensions and the lids are for if I have to get in and retrieve a chicken.
There are two of them that run alongside one of their roofed runs.
Note the carabiners because I have a lot of raccoons and although in theory the kids are too heave for a raccoon I am not trusting to that!

Silt fence fabric is not predator proof at all. Good idea for shade and airflow, but should be backed with hardware cloth to keep raccoons and other predators out.
