Hip Hillbilly Acres
Crowing
Our last bunch of chickens hatched yesterday and are on their way. Watch them arrive tomorrow while I am at work. Thankfully I work around the corner from the post office. Looks like I will have a short day cause yaw'll know I am giing to get my babies when they call me. I will take them home, get them settled in their brooder then head back to work [rolling my eues about the return].
I think with this brood I will settle them outside in coop as soon as they have feathers. One chickener said she puts hers out at three weeks.
Excited about their arrival! The difference in this batch is that they will be my last between now and spring. No more room at this inn, unfortunately. Buying then sure is FUN! I will ise the time to get to know them, observe them and see which breed(s) I adore.
Stay tuned for pics of the newbies tomorrow. Meanwhile here is a couple: One is the turkens/dark brahmas smashing some chow in their brooder last week and a random of the others their hoop coop. I am sure better chick pics are forthcoming since practice makes progress.
Flock stats: Born Jun. 29 - Aug 29th. 2022. About 16 weeks, nine weeks and seven weeks now.
