Hip problem in rooster

One of our chicks this year seems to have had a congenital leg problem. Always had weak legs, always sat down a lot. Turns out this chick was a rooster and now that he’s gotten quite large the leg problems are severely hampering his mobility. Problem is at the hip... his legs were never splayed like straddle-leg but he always looked kind of bow-legged and now it’s as though they pop out of alignment at the hip with every step. I’m guessing he’s in pain and we’ll need to dispatch him but I wondered if anyone had seen this before and if there’s anything else we could do.
 
It sounds like it could be varus deformity, which is more common in broiler chickens. Illustration below, you can google varus/valgus for more pictures and descriptions. The deformity can cause the tendons to slip.
