This morning I learned of @Folly's place 's enclosed wall horror story because someone replied to an old thread. I otherwise notice posts from Mary and sometimes exchange so it was of interest and I enjoyed.

I understand some have issues with this feature but it does have some values as well.

That would be an advantage.
I have a problem when someone jumps in offering advice on how to deal with an aggressive rooster when the post is 8 years old and the bird is likely long dead.
Or someone asking how much an incubator setup costs when the post was made 5 years ago.
Or someone asking a new member from a specific area, who never made more than their introduction thread, questions about the local ordinances...

I generally don't. But when someone asks a question that is never going to be answered by the person being asked, I try to respond to explain why and point them in a new direction if possible.
