Howdy everyone! I have had chickens for several years now, got my first flock in 2018. Currently we have 14 hens, no roosters. Our flock is a mix of blue andalusions, one cream leg bar, black stars.. and something else black..possibly black stars also, but their faces are just oh slightly different to my eye... maybe orpingtons.. they were a last minute panic purchase because the majority of the cream leg bar chicks all died within a day or two of purchase
But I tell you, they are the sweetest, calmest chickens I've ever owned. .. oh, and one mystery red chicken that showed up one day (like maybe someone dropped her off... she is very tame and likes to be carried. I expect she was an easter chick that (un)surprisingly turned in to a large, pooping chicken).
Chickens have always been one of my favorite critters.. I love sitting with them and listening to their soft talk. I enjoy baking and cooking so I am grateful for their eggs and they seem to enjoy all the scraps and leftovers every day.
I decided to join this community after lurking for years and years because as my flock gets bigger, it seems I have more and more questions!
