(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I grew up with chickens as a kid, but first started keeping my own chickens about 10 years ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 16

(3) What breeds do you have? a bunch of different: australops, golden laced wyendotte, blue andelusian, new Hampshire red, wellsummer...

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I was looking for ideas to build our new coop and stumbled on this site. I'll post pictures of the coop once I've got it from functional to pretty.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? farming, cycling, hiking, knitting, reading...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I recently moved our family (2 kids a dog and a cat) to Lopez Island WA. We had been living in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle and it has been growing too big, too fast for us. We have the beginnings of a farm, just got the coop up, new flock of birds, working on the garden...

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
