Hmm. I feel there might have been a mix up at the feed store.

Ok, wow. If I were just going by that pic without any of the other info I would say you've got 6 WL there. That being said, if one of those is a CX, its not gonna hurt one bit if it stays with your Leghorns. If its that much smaller the Cornish may push it around or trample it.
When were you planning on butchering them, around 8 weeks? That should give you plenty of tine to figure out what you've got going on there. Its entirely possible there was a hatchery mix up, it happens all the time.....I honestly have no idea! If one of those is a CX, it may be the smallest ever!

I've left which ever one is lagging in with the other smaller keeper chicks..I guess we'll see what it turns into...but yeah, that is a marked difference between the 2...I mean the CX are Huge!!! I figured we would butcher them when they reach a good weight...which looks like it will be pretty freaking soon since we just got them on the 6th and they already look like that. It just confused me when I went to move out the meat birds because they garnish so much of the brooder space...
We have 26 chicks total, and 9 of them take up as much space as the others combined...if not more space even.
I don't know why people have such an issue with them though. I mean they are doing well and their poops aren't any different than the smaller chicks...only more of it per chick of course. But it isn't any runnier or worse smelling...they just dirty up a space faster because they are so much larger. They are also ridiculously friendly...all the chicks are, but the CX especially.

When we got the CX chicks they all looked the same...and then I started adding more chicks so I didn't really notice that one CX was lagging behind. If I hadn't separated out the meaties I would have never known...so we have a mix up or a super slow growing CX...
Then again the CX lose their down and then the feathers come in, where as all the smaller chicks it seems like the down gets replaced with feathers, leaving them no bald spots, where as the CX get a bald spot that then grows in feathers, but none of the smaller chicks are growing like that either...they are all feathering about the same as each other. I think there was a mix up somewhere either at the store, or at the hatchery. Oh well. I like the leghorns and don't mind an extra. If that is what it is.

Sometimes you have to wait these things out! We, one year, got a beautiful little buff orphington from TSC. well, that's what we thought we bought. Within three days he had surpassed the others ridiculously in weight and pulsated when breathing. We freaked. This was a cornish not our cutie. Oh well! We were able to return and replace.
