Hmmm I guess I never filled this out...

Haha nice! I hope our Favacauna turns out blue, I looove "blue" chickens and since our Blue Andalusian turned out to be splash (still beautiful, just not the grey color I was hoping for), I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Favacauna! My husband does not share my enthusiasm for my diverse "lawn candy" choices and is a Black Australorp loyalist who would be happy to have all Australorps, all the time.
So of our 10 MPC chickens, we have 6 left. One of our Easter Eggers got egg bound on her very first egg (it seemed early and her body couldn't seem to handle it), and had such severe vent prolapse and was in so much pain we had to put her out her misery. It was very traumatic and heartbreaking. A second EE and a golden cuckoo marans died last sumer - we were camping both times and had friends watching the house and animals so don't know exactly what happened but I suspect respiratory issues either directly or indirectly related to heat. The 4th one to go was at our hands - a black Australorp that ended up being a rooster by mistake (MPC refunded me the cost of the chick due to sexing error). He was glorious and I was in love with him, and we let him live as long as we could, but eventually ate him because he crowed soooooo loudly and we didn't want to rankle neighbors. The remaining hens are currently molting and not laying much, but before this they were laying great, we were swimming in eggs and had more than enough to eat ourselves and plenty to gift to family and friends. I do miss my "daily rainbow" of eggs, as the deceased EE's and Marans had laid blue, green, and dark dark brown eggs, respectively. The survivors seem pretty healthy otherwise, at least so far.
You'll have to post pics of your Favacauna's beautiful green eggs when she reaches point-of-lay!! :bun

I know it’s inevitavle... but I am going to be a mess when I lose each of my chickens when their time comes. Especially if it’s too soon. I couldn’t imagine losing one on their first egg. I cried when I lost the one at 48 hours! Lol. All my chicken friends tell me that I’ll get used to losing them and slowly I’ll stop naming them... im thinking they don’t understand my depth of love for these birds! Lol. I am excited for my rainbow eggs. I’ll have white, shades of tan/beige/brown, hopefully some blue/green ones, the beautiful olive green one and some chocolate brown ones. I’ll be one proud mama when they lay so yes, pictures will be posted!!!! And just for you, here is Grace. Our blue fav. I could look at her feathers all day! Sorry for the one that’s a little blurry. I was trying hard to get a face one but she’s a busy girl. Glad to hear all your MPC hens were good! Obviously enough for you to order more!
