I have three GLW hens that are almost 2 years old... I just noticed sometime since last fall they sprouted spurs... all three of them... I got them through MPC... anybody else ever have this happen?

If they were reliable layers and now have stopped they are probably experiencing henopause- a hen's version of human menopause. Instead of growing mustaches they grow spurs and may even start crowing!

Henopause!!!

Here is a close up picture. They are not as big as my roos but still it is odd that it is all three of my GLW's!!!!

I have a silver pheonix mix hen with an impressive set of spurs. She's grew them in just like a rooster (and almost met Mr. Hatchet) but she lays a pretty dark brown egg just about everyday and loves to steal my broodies chicks. She's about 3 years old now.
