Hey yall,
Anyone have any experience with having chickens/ducks when you have an Hoa that says no poultry? My Hoa says that but I've had my chickens and duck for a little over a year and haven't had any problems. I'm I just lucky lol?

As Moonshiner said, its fun until they find out. Then you've got problems! In my old neighborhood, they called the marshals on us a few different times. They became so desperate to get rid of our chickens, they called the police at 6 am accusing us that our chickens were running across the road! When the marshal came, the chickens were locked up tight in the coop. I hadn't even unlocked them from the coop yet!
What I'm trying to say is that "Your sin will find you out" lol! The board will eventually find out, and then things won't be so pretty...
I know that the thought of losing/giving away your birds is hard, but some times it might just have to happen.
Good luck!

We had some type of rules/HOA in my previous neighborhood that didn't allow livestock of any kind and when we were buying the house, I asked what happened if someone broke the rules. The Realtor said that if no one complained, after a period of time, the rule became null and void (I was just curious at the time). When I decided I wanted chickens a number of years later, I knew there was another resident that had already had chickens for about a year and so I felt safer getting them. I have no idea if most HOA rules follow suit - that it someone breaks them and no one complains and a certain time limit passes, that the rule is no longer valid?

to answer your Question yes they can make you remove it with no warning , they also can file suite in court that could force you to move, I tell people all the time HOA'S are not what they claim to be , They basically run your life , if you buy a home you should be able to do anything you want to do . Definition of
HOA = Strong Arm

my neighbors all being flat lander's decided they wanted a HOA
I told each and every one of the more power too ya,
I refused to join in why should I as my family has been here over 60+ years .

yes they try to strong arm me but my property is grandfathered in so they don't and cant tell me what I can or cant do , they call the law if they don't get there way , once the sheriff here's my property is exempt to the HOA they walk away laughing .

one neighbor decided he would file a complaint my coop is a eye sore of coarse it was totally out of sight. so nicely I moved it around the house so it's directly in his view . they once again called the sheriff claiming I was in violation of the HOA.

guess what the sheriff told the jerk not only am I not a part of the HOA but if they get one more call they will arrest him in violation of harassment . best part is the HOA can not approve any type of structural or any other outside projects with out my approval .

it pays having a home of 5 generations you can't be pushed around, nothing feel better than making a bunch of idiots feel so small
